We've chatted about how accessories can totally change the way a space feels (see more on that post here), and have identified some of the best prints and patterns (that one here), but how do you pair them together? How do you make your window treatments and pillows work together? Can we be beach house one day and graphic tribal the next?
Above is a recently put together Sourcing Guide for a client who is loving beach chic, but also looking for punches of yellow and blue with a little personality. Her home is a little glam with polished metals but mostly clean and crisp. Because she wants the bank of windows in the main living space to really shine, we're going to dress them in something statement making but able to adapt as needed.
Here are some windows that really work!
Neutral, right on trend but still a little classic.
Bold, but paired with neutral furniture, the panels do all the talking while the accessories in the room pop as colorful accents
DRAMA! Although the panels are really traditional and clean, the paint color and dark flooring create so much drama. The crisp white panels pop the natural light coming from the windows and add major contrast.
Modern, but with a little retro in the color palette. That olive green keeps things feeling earthy while the big and bold print elevates the space to a geometric feel.
If you are one who likes to change up your decor, swap things room to room on occasion or decorate seasonally, select a window panel option that has OPTIONS! Something neutral that can go a variety of ways with different accessories and pillows. If you are a pretty committed decorista, don't be afraid to go BOLD! Select something with a print and with color!
Advice for whatever type of decorating maven you may be, don't over complicate the pillow purchase. Of all people who take pillows seriously, I am one of them. It is however, important to remember, we are talking about a pillow. This little pouf can be muted or bold, blue or beige, but whatever it is, it isn't permanent! Take a risk, buy it, set it on your couch, step back and understand your pillow's place in your home. If it works, consider the purchase a little victory. If it doesn't, take it back and prepare to risk it all again! Just kidding- it's a PILLOW!
If you need a little pairing help, we can create a Sourcing Guide for you, for just about any decor element with a few simple photos and a little style direction. Think of it as a dress rehearsal, but for your home! And the best part, it's delivered straight to your email box!
Stay stylish, and have a very happy Friday!
